AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT: Is It Still the Mid-Range GPU to Beat in 2026?

The Radeon RX 9060 XT uses the Navi 44 GPU with 32 Compute Units, 2,048 stream processors, 32 ray accelerators, and 64 AI accelerators. It comes with 8GB or 16GB of 20Gbps GDDR6 on a 128-bit bus, delivering 320GB/s of bandwidth alongside 32MB of Infinity Cache.

The 8GB card has a 150W TBP, while the 16GB model is rated at 160W. Both use a single 8-pin connector, and AMD recommends a 450W power supply. AMD also lists a 16GB LP variant with a 140W TBP in 2026.

The 16GB version is the one to buy today. The 8GB card uses the same GPU, but its memory capacity can already become a bottleneck at 1440p or with high-resolution textures.

After more than a year of driver updates and independent testing, its position is much clearer:

• Against the RTX 5060, the 16GB RX 9060 XT is generally stronger in rasterized games and offers twice the VRAM.
• The RTX 5060 Ti is often slightly faster overall and remains clearly ahead in ray tracing, DLSS, and CUDA workloads.
• Between the 8GB and 16GB RX 9060 XT, choose the 16GB card whenever the price gap is reasonable; it is the safer long-term buy.

The 16GB RX 9060 XT remains excellent for 1080p Ultra and capable at 1440p with high settings. The 8GB model still works well at Full HD, but newer games may require lower texture settings.

Software support has matured. As of September 2026, AMD offers Adrenalin 26.8.1 WHQL Recommended and 26.9.1 WHQL Optional drivers. FSR 4 improves image quality in supported games, although NVIDIA still leads in ray tracing.

Quick verdict: the 16GB card is a strong raster-performance buy when it costs less than an RTX 5060 Ti. For ray tracing or CUDA, GeForce remains the better fit.

If the RX 9060 XT shines in gaming, it also has solid arguments for productivity.

Its 16 GB of VRAM allow him to manage software such as Blender, DaVinci Resolve, Premiere Pro or even local AI .

GeForce cards still have broader support in Blender, 3D rendering, and CUDA-based tools. The Radeon’s 16GB of VRAM remains useful for video editing and memory-heavy local workloads.

The RX 9060 XT is widely available in both 8GB and 16GB versions. Pricing varies substantially by cooler and board partner, including Sapphire, ASUS, Gigabyte, ASRock, and PowerColor.

At roughly €479, the 16GB card still makes sense. Above €550, compare it directly with the RTX 5060 Ti and discounted RX 9070 models.

The Radeon RX 9060 does exist, but AMD still limits it to PCs sold by selected system integrators. It is not officially available as a standalone retail card.

• 8GB of GDDR6 on a 128-bit bus.
• Designed primarily for 1080p gaming in prebuilt PCs.
• No official retail release had been announced by September 5, 2026.

For a DIY build, the RX 9060 XT therefore remains the practical option. There is little reason to wait for a retail release that AMD has not announced.

In 2026, the 16GB RX 9060 XT remains a sensible mid-range GPU. It performs well at 1080p and 1440p, has enough VRAM, and now benefits from mature drivers.

Its value still depends on price. Below an RTX 5060 Ti, it is easy to recommend for rasterized gaming. At similar prices, GeForce regains the advantage through ray tracing, DLSS, and CUDA.
